Evidence-driven health programming, vetted by healthcare professionals, is virtually unheard of in TV broadcasting. The limited available health TV networks function primarily to entertain viewers and often do not deliver accurate, verifiable, and credible content, which is potentially harmful. Mass media platforms are an integral part of access to healthcare information. 1-7 It is vital that consumers, healthcare professionals, administrators, and policymakers stay up to speed with relevant medical literature. Applying updated clinical guidelines, research, and recommendations for team-based care tailored to patients’ needs and preferences can lead to optimal outcomes. 8-27
     Medical topics are in high demand. About 70% of U.S. adults are interested in health and medicine—more than any other of eight topics surveyed including local community events, government and politics, entertainment and celebrities, and sports, among others 28. Traditional media coverage of health and medicine has averaged less than 10% annually 28. These representative surveys suggest a supply-demand mismatch between media coverage and public interest. Ameliorating this disparity through a dedicated medical TV network is of vital public necessity and interest.
